Double Wing Offense and the 4-4 Defense

I have been running the Double Wing offense for over 10 years.  In that time I have learned that the Double Wing offense can be learned in a matter of minutes, but can take years to master, if it can ever be done.  Why the Double Wing?

  • Power Offense - The Double Wing is based to out-flank our opponents at the point of attack.  Much like the old "counter trey", our base play of super power is designed to pull both backside guard and tackle through the running lanes.
  • Deception - Once teams start overreacting to our power, the counter is the great equalizer.  The main reason we run the double wing is to run counters.
  • Lineman love this offense!

The 4-4 Defense is a defense that uses sound defensive principles to a "bend but don't break" philosophy.  Why the 4-4?

  • Easy to learn and the kids love it!
  • Promotes an aggressive, hard hitting style of football
  • Strong against the pass with the various blitzes that can be run, including our famous "zone blitz" call.
